Industry powerhouses collaborate to craft new guidelines for strategic deployment of Social Business systems

AIIM has gathered leaders from 18 Social Business and Content Management companies to serve on the second major taskforce project in the social content definition process, this one headed by ProfessorAndrew McAfee, known as the grandfather of E2.0. “I am excited to partner with AIIM on this effort,” says Dr. McAfee. “The technologies, practices, and philosophies of the 2.0 Era continue to affect companies in important ways, and it is critical to study the phenomenon as it unfolds. This project will give us the chance to see firsthand and in real time how organizations are changing the way they generate and use information, one of the most important transformations taking place in today’s business world.” In a kickoff meeting at the Sloan School of Management at MIT, task force executives architected the plan for the creation of case studies and a road map for the responsible use of Social and Enterprise 2.0 technologies in transforming key business processes. The road map will focus on use cases and select processes that are core to most business organizations. According to McAfee, Marketing and Sales are two groups that clearly should work closely together, but too often don’t. “We’re going to examine how…

3rd Party ECM Add-Ons Still Very Popular in #SharePoint implementations…

We have the results, we’re just waiting on the design of the report. A few preview numbers… 3rd party ECM add-ons are still very popular despite the added content management functions of 2010. Upgrades to 2010 seem to be taking a while with only 8% of users live, plus 6% who are first-timers direct to 2010. In 6 months time, over 50% say they will be live on 2010. Interestingly, standardizing a taxonomy or metadata template was the biggest upgrade issue, showing that the new functions are being adopted – except maybe the RM functions – but over 60% still plan to use add-ons. Re-applying customization, and training staff were the next two issues. Much more to come…Contact Doug Miles if you are a blogger or writer and want an advanced look. In the meantime, SharePoint afficiandos might be interested in a couple of upcoming training courses — and a FREE course… Train in SharePoint best practices with AIIM – online or in the classroom. Get Digital Landfill on Pulse – here’s how

If you have an Android device or and iPhone or an iPad, you might want to think about getting Pulse. Pulse is the most enjoyable RSS Reader I’ve found. The design is smart and easy to use. I like it better than Flipboard. You can choose from a variety of curated channels and/or link to the feeds in Google Reader. You can also add Digital Landfill as a channel (hint hint). All you need to do is search on “Digital Landfill” and you’ll see it in the list (see picture for the screen shot on the iPhone).
